General Admissions Requirements
High School Graduation Minimum admissions average 70% for UBC Vancouver 67% for UBC Okanagan Minimum 70% final grade in English 11 or English 12 for UBC Vancouver English Language Admissions Standard (ELAS) Program-specific requirements

English 11 Math 11 Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 Science 11 Or Science 12 Language 11 No “Intro to … courses” External Language Certificates 11 or 12 Challenge exam (11 or 12) (entered BC after Grade 9) Social Studies 11 Or any course that meets the Socials Studies 11 requirement for graduation Correction: BC First Nations 12 CAN be used to meet the SS11 requirement AND in the calculation of the admission average

distributed Learning (DL) & Challenge courses
Distributed Learning courses may be used in the calculation of the admission average if the course is 100% completed by February 1st To use a Distributed Learning course to meet a pre-requisite requirement, the course must be completed by June 30th Challenge courses may be used to meet pre-requisite requirements only (e.g. Language 11 requirement) and not in the calculation of the admission average

Deadline: March 15 There are nine ways to meet this requirement: 3+ years in BC high school (i.e. Grade 10–12)* can include ESL/ELL English proficiency tests (e.g. TOEFL or IELTS) English 12 Provincial Exam = 70% and above *If an applicant has any concerns about whether they meet ELAS based on years of attendance or they entered a Canadian high school after September of Grade 10, they should Waiver request process and required documentation:

Personal Profile Questions – 2018/19
1. Tell us about who you are. How would your family, friends, and/or members of your community describe you? If possible, please include something about yourself that you are most proud of and why. 2. What is important to you? And why? 3. Describe up to five activities that you have pursued or accomplishment achieved in one or more of the following areas. Please outline the nature of your responsibilities within these activities. 50 words per description. 4. Tell us more about ONE or TWO activities listed above that are most important to you. Please explain the role you played and what you learned in the process. You will be asked for a reference who can speak to your response. 5. Additional Information: Applicants may wish to explain why they want to study their particular program at UBC. 6. Please submit the names of two referees who know you well and can comment on your preparedness for study at UBC. Examples of referees include an employer, a community member, a coach, a teacher/instructor, or anyone who knows you well. One of the referees you select MUST be able to speak to one of the activities / experiences described in one of your long-answer responses above. For applicants who are currently attending a high school, one of your referees MUST be a school official (e.g. grade 12 or senior year counsellor, teacher, or IB Coordinator). Neither referee should be a friend, family member, or paid agent.

What is Depth and Breadth?
Who: Wait-listed students What: Assign additional points for: Depth = exploring discipline at a more advanced level (e.g. Advanced Placement courses, International Baccalaureate, language immersion, special athletics/artistic ability) Breadth = taking more than the minimum number of senior year courses Why: UBC would like to admit students who challenge themselves academically, beyond the minimum required for admission

Personal profile resources
During the Admissions Essentials presentation, we were asked if there were any more resources or tips available for writing the personal profile. We have now posted on our website the most current information on the new personal profile as it relates to the new questions and assessment process. Included on this site are reflective questions as well as the assessment criteria which we are currently using.
