She is in a wheelchair and is unable to leave the house without a carer. Sarah lives alone, speaks very little English and she feels socially very isolated. Sarah has recently been assessed by the local Social Services department for a range of community care services. She is going to receive a direct payment so that she can choose her own care provider and she will be able to pay them directly.
