We will identify different ways that abuse appears in relationships. EQ: What are some different ways that abuse is demonstrated in relationships. I will fill out a graphic organizer that demonstrates different signs of abuse.

Have you ever been witness to abuse? How did it make you feel when you were witnessing it as an outsider? Did you react to the abuse you were witnessing with some sort of action?

If you reacted somehow, how did others react to your actions? Why do you think people stay in abusive relationships? What are different things people can do to stop abuse?

Abuse oftentimes happens…
…when people don’t know how to resolve conflict. Conflicts sometimes have to do with conflicts within ONE individual As conflict escalates, violence and abuse can result Actions can be taken to avoid abuse or stop it in its tracks

Conclusions Lots of reasons for staying in an abusive relationships, none are really good reasons Abusive relationships… Can come from lack of self-esteem Can come from inability to resolve conflict

Do it yourself Seek others’ help Help others to get out yourself or seeking help There can be risks involved when getting out of abusive relationships but there are bigger risks in staying in an abusive relationship
