Industrial Growth Factors: Large supply of natural resources. An explosion of inventions. A growing city population that wanted new products. Government support of big business.

Railroads Span Time and Space
Railroads make local transit reliable, westward expansion possible. Government makes land grant, loans to railroads. Why???

Railroad Time Railroad schedules hard to maintain. Each area had their own time. Led to creation of time zones (Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific). Everyone in each zone would follow the same time.
