Powerplant Continental C-85-12, rated 85 hp, with Sensenich 74 inch fixed pitch aluminum prop Four cylinders, air-cooled, normally aspirated Oil capacity 4.5 qt; no oil filter Normal reading 4 qts, minimum 3 qts Oil changed every 25 hours, screen cleaned every other oil change Equipped with mixture control, fuel primer, and carburetor heat Burns approx 6 gal/hr in training

Ignition Two Slick Magnetos Two spark plugs per cylinder
Mags always produce electricity when turning; ignition switch only opens/closes the circuits to the spark plugs Ignition switch with OFF/L/R/BOTH positions Faulty switch may make the mags hot at any time – be careful on the tightrope!

Fuel System Two 12-gal wing tanks, vented through fuel caps
Sumps at each wing tank and at fuel strainer under engine Glass sight gauges on each tank, meniscus visible at 6 gal Gravity feed, four position fuel valve in cockpit: OFF, L, R, BOTH Supplemental Type Code (STC) for automobile fuel; placards on both wings

Electrical System No airframe battery or alternator
ELT with associated battery Headset amplifier with 9 volt battery Starting power from your right arm No airframe lights or radio

Flight Controls Conventional elevator/aileron/rudder, dual tandem controls No flaps Trim mechanism raises/lowers leading edge of horizontal stab, just like a B-777! Water rudder and airframe rudder both connected to rudder pedals
