Who is Mariko Mori? Attended Chelsea College of Art & Design
(London ‘89-’92) Whitney Museum of American Art’s Independent Study Program (New York ‘92-’93) Born in Tokyo in 1967 Daughter of an inventor and art historian Briefly studied at Bunka Fashion College and modeled during this time.

Who is Mariko Mori? Wave UFO was an interactive installation that debuted in Austria in 2003 Internationally acclaimed artist who gained international recognition for Wave UFO. Her work is know for exploring universal questions at the cross-sections of life, death, technology and reality. Ring: One with Nature showcased her intellectual and artistic practice.

Mariko Mori’s Early Works
Play with me (‘94) Subway (‘94) Photographs. Depict Mori as cyborg heroine navigating Tokyo. Tea Ceremony (‘95) Performance. Mori served tea to businessmen in Tokyo while dressed like a prototypical Japanese office worker. Body Capsule (‘95) Sculpture. Plexiglas container created to hold Mori’s body. This container was used in the photograph Beginning of the End and also in a video installation, Link (2000).

Empty Dreams (1995) Mori took advantage of new technologies at the time to create this piece. Dressed as a mermaid Mori appears four times in this single frame. Empty Dreams is the first time Mori uses digital art as we know it today. We the use of similar techniques again in other works such as Light Departure (‘96) and Pure Land (‘96/’97)

Notable Works Ring: One With Nature Wave UFO (2003) Oneness (2002)
Interactive installation created in the wake of 9/11 This sculpture is also apart of a larger exhibition that debuted in the Ukraine in 2008 Exhibition showcased her work from 1993 to 2008 Okinawa Prefecture, Japan Wave UFO (2003) Sculpture that allows viewer participation, explores relationship between individuals and outer space Shown in New York, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Ukraine “Seven years ago I had a dream, and the vision was a golden ring on top of a waterfall” Collaboration between the Rio 2016 cultural program and The Faou Foundation for the Rio Olympics Luminous ring made of acrylic atop “Bride’s Veil” Waterfall, approx. 2 hrs. outside of Rio Second installation toward goal to have public artwork on each inhabited continent.
