4 Pathways OP Eligible – OP / QCS TEST OR….
OP Ineligible – QTAC Selection Rank Eligible / and QCS Test Some students may receive a rank and an OP There are many combinations students can choose and can include: VET – School-based traineeship / apprenticeship Certificate Courses (Cert I, II, III, IV – Diploma) Tertiary Studies (Griffith Guest, Griffith / Bond Semester, Griffith BIO & Health etc.)

5 OP ELIGIBLE OP (Overall Position)
“A student’s OP shows their position in a statewide rank order based on their overall achievement in AUTHORITY subjects”. OP 1 is the highest OP 25 is the lowest

6 OP Eligible Students To be eligible for an OP, students must:
Complete 20 Semester units of credit in Authority subjects Study at least three subjects for four semesters Sit the QCS Test Attend school until the final day of Year 12 – 18th November 2016.

7 What can an OP look like?

8 What can an OP look like?

9

10 All subjects are treated equally.
Remember : Results of the best 5 Authority subjects are used in the calculations. All subjects are treated equally. An OP shows how well an individual student performed in their Senior studies when compared with the performance of all other OP eligible students in Queensland. Every student should be aiming to achieve their best = TOP of the subject cohort.

11

12 Remember : Students need to check the Prerequisites required for the course of study for which they intend to apply. AUTHORITY ENGLISH is a Prerequisite for most University programs. Students MUST complete 4 semesters and exit with at least a Sound Achievement. English Communication does not satisfy this prerequisite requirement. Students will also need to be aware of any Field Positions that may be used if QTAC need to scale student admissions further.

13

14 OP Ineligible Student Students who do not qualify for an OP may still be eligible to apply to QTAC. Students are allocated a QTAC selection rank based on their best 20 semesters. This can be created from Authority and Authority registered subjects, VET units of competency / modules and the QCS. Students who study fewer than the 20 semesters – can still apply but it will be less competitive. Students who are OP ineligible can gain entry to tertiary courses through QTAC - students will apply for a selection rank based on "schedules” that are created for this purpose. They also need to meet subject prerequisites and the tertiary institution’s rules and regulations

15 STUDENTS SHOULD SIT THE QCS TEST TO IMPROVE RANK RESULT
QTAC Selection Rank Students (OP and OP ineligible) must satisfy minimum entry requirements such as prerequisites.  Prerequisites may be subject requirements or portfolio/audition requirements for creative and performing arts courses. STUDENTS SHOULD SIT THE QCS TEST TO IMPROVE RANK RESULT

17 Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
Requires 20 credits in total CORE (12 credits) can be made up of different combinations – 3 x Subjects studied over the 2 years / or certificate equivalent (8pts) + 1 x subject studied over the 2 years. + 8 additional credits from a combination of study = 20. SOUND ACHIEVEMENT or better in ALL subjects to receive FULL CREDIT (4 credits awarded for each subject studied over 2 years) on EXIT. PASS at least one semester in English (Authority or English Communication) and Mathematics (A,B,C or Prevocational Mathematics) Literacy & Numeracy can be obtained with a ‘C’ on QCS Test.

18 QCE Students will be asked regularly to check their Student Data Capture. This has student details – Name, address etc. It also contains their credit point history. If students change subjects – they need to be diligent in checking that this data is correct. Students who have completed any School Based Certificate / Diploma or qualification through TAFE / Private Provider will also need to ensure that this is listed before the end of Year 12.

19 QCE / QTAC Students are able to go to STUDENT CONNECT and look at their learning account. Students should log onto this site and check this information regularly. Students will require their LUI number for this. Essential to keep this number accessible and secure. The LUI number is also required for QTAC. Access to QTAC personal information – students have to grant access.

20 QCS TEST The QCS Test contributes information towards calculation of Overall Positions (OPs) and Field Positions (FPs), which are used to select students for tertiary entrance. A student's individual QCS Test result is not used on its own in the calculation of their OP — instead, group results are used as part of the statistical scaling processes. A student's individual result on the QCS Test (from A to E) is reported on the student's Senior Statement or Statement of Results.

21 QCS Dates 30th / 31st August 2016 PC Lessons – Term 2 & 3 Tuesday / Thursday Thursday afternoon workshop – Senior teachers to run workshops Immersion Days Monday 15th February 2016 Monday 21st March Wednesday 20th April
