Joint Health and Safety Committees Queen's University maintains ten Joint Health and Safety Committees that meet the legal requirements of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. Worker members and management members inspect all workplaces annually. Departmental Safety Officer Conduit through which EH&S provides information to your Department: release of new or revised SOPs availability of safety courses assists supervisors in reporting incidents

University Safety Policies EH&S Policies & Procedures: Train your personnel and students using these Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) ensures compliance with legislation and with University policies

Required for all Faculty: Health & Safety Awareness duties, responsibilities, rights Orientation Checklist Combines Queen’s information and Departmental, location- specific information Complete with supervisor (or designate) A.S.A.P. & return to Departmental Safety Officer Supervisor Training (likely afternoon of Thursday October 26) Bill 168 – Violence and Harassment (Human Resources)

12 EH&S Training and Permits
Required where applicable: Office Safety First Aid WHMIS, Biosafety, Radiation, Xray/Laser Designated Substances Hoist & Crane Ladder Equipment Permits required: Radioisotopes and sealed sources Biohazards – infectious microorganisms or material that might contain pathogens e.g. human blood and tissue
