1 FMP PLANNING Kerrin Terry

2 Three skills that I have gathered over the last two trimesters:
How to use Indesign Learning to use Indesign allowed me to complete my previous project and also taught me skills that I can take forward into the next project such as creating a professional looking booklet. 2. Photoshop Using Photoshop has been very useful for my previous project as I took many photos and needed to edit them before I inserted them into the booklet. I will also be able to carry these skills forwards into my Final Major Project. 3. Audio I learnt how to record using professional equipment and worked with actors who read some of our work. This process was very interesting and exciting to me as I hadn’t done anything like it before.

3 Three things I have improved on since joining the course:
1.Research skills: Since joining the course I have been taught a lot about researching and different ways of collecting data. This information is useful for all of my projects as research is always part of the criteria. 2. Writing skills: Since joining the course I have been writing every day and learning new skills such as accurately proof reading and “specificity” which means making your work very detailed and specific. 3. Evaluating my work: I have learnt how to thoroughly evaluate all of my work as we do this every week in our blog posts. I find this to be a very useful skill because when I evaluate my work I can get a greater sense of what I have achieved and can see what else I need to do to complete my work.

4 My favourite piece of work:
7 Days – Eve Ainsworth book review  Eve Ainsworth has written an emotional tale that depicts the life of the bully and the bullied. It’s not often that readers get to hear two perspectives and even more uncommon that we learn the life of a bully rather than just their victim. 7 Days follows the lives of schoolgirls Kez – a popular teen who doesn’t care who she hurts and Jess – an awkward overweight victim, unravelling the secrets of their private lives and the impact they have when they meet at school. I love how this book explores serious issues that many people can relate to, not only people exposed to bullying but also bullies themselves. I also think the book is very cleverly structured, the struggles and deep secrets of each character are gradually exposed but neither character is aware of their rivals’ difficult life. Why do bully’s bully? Can a victim ever forgive? All is revealed in Eva Ainsworth’s gripping story; you won’t be able to put it down.  This is the piece of work I am most proud of because I actually got in touch with the author of this book and she said that she enjoyed reading it what I had written about it.

5 My strongest medium Medium to develop
I think my strongest medium is writing because that’s what brought me to this course and every other skill that I have learnt has just been because of my love for writing. Medium to develop I need to develop my research skills because this is the unit that I got the lowest grade in previously. I will develop my research skills by asking for help if and when I need it and speaking up in class.

6 Mind Map My fears: Clowns Being robbed Roller -coasters Being sick
Things I like Writing Fashion Baking Sunshine CHRISTMAS Music Picnics Laughing Reading Things that influenced me: My family My friends School Things I am passionate about: Writing Reading Talking Eating Things I don’t like Olives Tomatoes The Dark Clowns Heights Rude people (people who have no manners and act entitled) Things I worry about: Offending people Family being ill Big crowds Sitting in Waiting rooms at the dentist or hospital

7 My strengths and weaknesses
Writing Evaluating my work Proof reading and Spelling Getting easily distracted Researching Photoshop In groups, we had a discussion about our strengths and weaknesses. I was told that my main strength is writing and my weakness is research. In our last Unit, research was the weakest aspect for me so this is something I intend to improve on for the FMP.

8 Idea 1 Idea 2 Design magazine including articles about Fashion (including interviews?) and possibly Interior Design. Podcast talking about fashion – possibly an interview with a fashion textiles student. FMP Including Photographs taken by me in each article edited in Photoshop. My target audience for this project would be mostly females interested in fashion and design aged 17 – 25.

9 Research As research for my design magazine, I have looked at several different magazine articles as well as audio interviews. The audio interviews were useful as I was able to recognize the proper structure of an interview and how to word questions. The articles were also useful to me because I got some inspiration for the layout of my magazine and the general structure of fashion articles. I particularly like this blog run by Tala Samman because she writes in a style that feels personal to each reader – it feels as though she is speaking directly to you. I also like her photography and this is something I want to incorporate into my own project. I also liked the style of this interview because Ken Downing led the interview but he wasn’t constantly asking questions, he would give a small prompt by saying “I particularly liked this piece” and then Alexis Barbara Isiais would talk about it. The interview didn’t feel staged or awkward as they sometimes can.
