Inferencing Chart Text Evidence Inference
Lines 17-18: “She trusted him to build well and not ruin things.” Vida had pride in her son and loved their closeness. Line 38: “His eyes flashed, but he said, ‘Okay’” Ted is trying to cover up his strong reaction to what he perceives as his mother’s nonchalance about his decision to live outside. Lines : “Ted woke to see the stained glass full of light. The little sun was a golden moon and the inside glass sky and the outside sky matched.” Ted understands that his need for independence and his love for his mother can exist simultaneously, that one doesn’t necessarily eclipse the other.
