ProWater International Distance Learning Course (M.Sc.) Contact
The ever increasing demand on water resources management and protection requires network thinking and sound expertise. Practical application of such knowledge and developed communication skills are essential for the successful project manager in the field of water resources management and protection. For this innovative and promising field of work we offer our distance learning course, which leads to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree. ProWater provides a sound qualification in the field of environmental engineering with a focus on sustainable management of surface and subsurface water, water supply, wastewater and waste treatment. The course was developed for engineers and scientists working in the consulting business, for water authorities, administrations and in the industry dealing with water protection and management issues. Distance Learning Course Students will select study units, receive lecture notes and send-in tasks for selected courses via mail or . The lecture notes contain explanations, examples and excercises particularly suitable for self study. Multimedia study aids are available for some modules. Successfully completed send-in tasks will qualify for written and oral exams. Any questions will be answered quickly by the tutors via , fax or skype. Adequate English or German language skills are necessary. Deadlines for application are September, 1rst (winter semester) and March, 1rst (summer semester). Period of Study The complete course covers 3 semester (90 CP*), plus 1 semester for the master thesis (30 CP). A part time study is possible. It is also possible to select individual courses and complete them with a certificate. *One credit point complies with a study effort of approximately 30 hours Master of Science After successful participation in the distance learning course, an accredited Master of Science university degree is awarded. It allows further study torwards a PhD degree. International Distance Learning Course ProWater The master course is offered both in German and English language. Phases of Attendance and Examinations In each semester two phases of attendance are offered. The first phase (one week, voluntary) contains review and practical training. In the second phase (one week), examinations and excursions take place. For students studying abroad, examinations will usually take place at the German embassies, Goethe-Institutes, local DAAD offices or via Skype. The students have to finance their travel costs and accommodation by themselves. Fees The full course of studies includes 120 Credit Points (CP). For the first three semesters, a fee of 44 Euro per CP must be paid for documents, organisation and support. For the acknowledgement of study units completed at other universities, a fee of 44 Euro per study unit falls due. If the acknowledgement is rejected, the fee is credited to the study unit. Per semester a minimum fee of 528 Euro has to be paid (equal to 12 CP). This can be accomplished completely by attending study units. In addition to the semester costs, an enrollment fee of about 150 Euro is due each semester for registering as a student at the TU Braunschweig. The fee for the supervision of the master thesis is 528 Euro. Surface and Subsurface Water Resources Management Advanced Studies For the Advanced Studies, the student will select either Block D or E, and collect a total of 24 credit points.
