Do Now: Which country would you rather live in?
Country A: Your country prides itself on a strong military. Little attention is spent on expanding knowledge. Both men and women serve in the military and it is a great honor to do so. The government is run by an elite few. Two kings are in charge of the military.
Country B: Your country prides itself on expanding knowledge and creative expression. Much time is spent on education and encouraging new ideas. Country B’s government is a government ruled by the people. An assembly of elected officials carries out the laws voted on by all people. Only male citizens have the right to vote, women have very little say.

2. Geography of Greece
Greece is made up of a peninsula and a series of small islands.
The region is very mountainous and has little farmland
Its geography made sea trade and travel very important

3. Greek City-States
The mountains forced the Greeks to build city-states instead of one country.
A city-state is a city with its own laws, rulers, and money (they act like their own mini country)
