Gospel Values focus: Faithfulness and Integrity
The Gospel Values of Faithfulness and Integrity are from Jesus’ teaching of “blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven” (From the Beatitudes) and call on us to stick to something, even if it is a tough challenge and be strong in defending something we care about.
They are important in Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School because:
We are preparing you for the world and for eternal life! These values will be important in your future careers and vocations. To be faithfulness means to be loyal to something and to have integrity means to be honest with strong moral principles.
It also means taking time to reflect and be spiritual. In our materialistic world, we can often focus too much on things and less of people. These values remind us to follow teachings such as ‘treat others how you wish to be treated.’ (Jesus)
Prayer:
Lord, each day may I be an example of faithfulness and integrity to my friends, family and those I meet each day. Give me the courage to have integrity in defending what is right.
Amen.
How can I live out these Gospel Values in school, in my community and in my world?
Live out Jesus’ teachings, such as ‘love thy neighbour.’
Defend those who need it i.e. the rights of the unborn and immigrants; victims of bullying.
