What is TOK? One of the compulsory core elements in the IB Diploma Programme besides Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)

TOK lessons Lessons are held by TOK teacher alone and in collaboration with other IB subject teachers

TOK essay Essay on a prescribed title from a list of six titles
Maximum length for the essay is 1600 words Externally assessed by the IBO

TOK presentation One presentation to the class by an individual or a group (max three persons) Approximately 10 minutes of presentation time per student One written presentation planning document for each student Internally assessed by the school’s TOK teacher

Assessment TOK essay 0–10 marks TOK presentation 0–10 marks
Points are doubled TOK presentation 0–10 marks TOK essay weights 67% and TOK presentation 33% in the assessment
