Year 8 - You decide: variety is the ‘spice’ of life!
Choose a task to complete for homework. You should make an effort to choose tasks of varying ‘heat’. Grade Guide: 1 = Outstanding 2= Good 3= Satisfactory 4= Unsatisfactory Write a blog that explains your views on the topic that we are studying in class at the moment. Research one of the authors that we have been studying. Create a Facebook profile for them. You should include likes, friends (including literary figures that they may share interests with), family, career etc. Create a podcast / video of the topic that educates teenagers on the topic that we are currently studying– you must include information gained from extra research Write an analytical essay (3 paragraphs minimum) - re-read the opening page of your class text – how effective is the opening of this text? Plan a short presentation about a new novel/poem that you haven’t studied in class. Date and sign: Grade: Date and sign : Find a poem that explores the topic that we are currently studying. You should attach all the poetic techniques that you can find and consider the poet’s message. Write a story that begins with this line: “That was when it all went wrong…” Design a poster that attracts tourists to the main location within the text that we are currently studying. Design a web page that centres around the texts that we have been studying. Using poetic techniques, write a poem from the perspective of the main character within the text that w are currently exploring. Create a map of the setting within the novel that we are reading in class. You must attach all of the relevant areas of interest on your map. Create a challenging quiz about the text we have been studying to test the understanding of the rest of the class- minimum 10 questions. Imagine that you have been asked to create a piece of art inspired by the text that we have studied in class. You must also write a short explanation as to why you have created this as your masterpiece. Write a dairy entry from the perspective of the main character within the text that you have been studying. Chose an image of a setting that is related to our text. You should write a detailed description of the scene using a range of descriptive techniques. Create a starter based on something you have just learnt about the current topic that we are studying. Extra house points if you deliver it! Find 5 unknown vocabulary choices from the text that we have studied and find their definitions. You should also use them in 5 separate sentences to show your understanding. Create a Fact File that will help with your our current topic. Create an alternative book cover for the text that we have been studying in class. Create three ‘tweets’ on the text that you have been studying. Earn a Ruskin Respect and/or house points Earn house points and possibly a Ruskin Respect. Earn a house point or two. Don’t get a detention!
