Purpose of this Report: To update Board members on national, regional and local issues, announcements relating to mental health, learning disability and community health services, and Chief Executive level discussions within the local health economy. Recommendations That the Board: Notes the content of the Chief Executive’s report Previous meetings/committees where the report has been considered: Executive Management Team Risk issues identified for discussion: Board members will want to identify any risks emerging from the content of the paper, and how new issues and challenges across the NHS might affect BDCFT. Any emerging issues may be taken forward through individual discussions with Directors outside Board meetings or suggesting a future paper to the Board or its Committees. Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: A new Yorkshire centre which will improve the health and wellbeing of children and the elderly, as well as the safety of patients in hospitals and clinics, has taken another step forward with the submission of building plans for approval. NHS Clinical Commissioners Of Primary Importance: commissioning mental health services in primary care Congratulations to Dr Mahmood Khan and team from the psychiatric clinical team working hard to inspire a new generation of mental healthcare professionals and receiving brilliant feedback from medical students from the University of Leeds about their top-quality teaching and levels of support. Well done to our complex care team for reaching the finals for the Nursing Times Awards. A great achievement! You can see more of their work here At the end of November, Trust staff celebrated the official launch of our ACORN project. ACORN captures continuing professional development activity across our nursing, allied health professional, dental, medical and psychological services. On 31 October, staff from the Trust celebrated their graduation from the Moving Forward development programme. The leadership programme has run for six months and has covered a number of areas including emotional intelligence, positive thinking along with some practical tools. Read more.. Our Allied Health Professionals along with AHP colleagues from across Airedale and Bradford, are hosting a conference on 29th November. Suzanne Raistrick, NHS England Chief Allied health Professional Officer will be the key note speaker at the event ‘AHPs into Action’ We had a great response to the launch of the 3 month pilot for the Four Seasons Café at LMH. The Trust has achieved three pieces of national media coverage this month in both the Asian Sunday and Mental Health Today. Other coverage comes from a feature about the ‘Your Future Your Health’ event, volunteers needed for Airedale Centre for Mental Health, winter health campaign starting with health visitors encouraging people to have their flu jab. Social media engagement is high this month generated by a recruitment campaign to support HR activity encouraging people to visit us at recruitment fairs in various locations and promoted the benefits of working for the Trust including sharing videos of staff talking about their roles, development opportunities, staff benefits and the Trust’s staff development programmes.
