1 In female dominated professions, is upper management also important?
Why is it important to keep women in the workforce? How can we keep more women in the workforce? What messages to we send to ourselves and to others? Why are these messages important? What is the effect on systematically undervaluing yourself? Both professionally and personally? In female dominated professions, is upper management also important? If not what is the effect on the industry? What is the effect in female dominated industries when women negotiate for themselves in areas of hours worked, pay, and expectations?

Integrating Sources Also known as joining the conversation

3 If you know your sources well it will be much,
much easier to integrate them into your work, to summarize, and to quote. Going back to the video: What surprised you the most? What do you remember best? What seems most convincing? What seems least convincing? What other research possibilities does it suggest? How does this help you remember and/or understand the source better? How does it help you to form opinions (make claims) about the source?

4 As you write frame every quote
Susan Bordo writes about women and dieting. “Fuji I just one example. Until television was introduced in 1995 the island had no reported cases of eating disorders. In 1998, three years after programs from the United States and Britain began broadcasting there 62% of the girls surveyed reported dieting. I think Bordo is right. Another point…..

5 The feminist philosopher Susan Bordo deplores Western media’s obsession with female thinness and dieting. Her basic complaint is that increasing numbers of women across the globe are being led to see themselves as fat and in need of a diet. Citing the island of Fuji as a case point, Bordo notes, “Until television was introduced in 1995 the island had no reported cases of eating disorders. In 1998, three years after programs from the United States and Britain began broadcasting there 62% of the girls surveyed reported dieting: ( ). Bordo’s point of view is that the Western cult of dieting is spreading to remote places across the globe. Ultimately, Bordo complains that the culture of dieting will find you, regardless of where you live. Bordo’s observations ring true to me because most women I know, regardless of where they are from are seriously unhappy with their weight. Graff, Gerald, Birkenstaff, Cathy.
