2 Peter 1:1-4 “Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Introduction Hard to rely on the promises of people
Blame God for disappointment, think God let them down Believer experiences growth through ever increasing faith Remember, to stand for the faith, and contend for it Received this faith, exhorted to make it ever increasing Do that by embracing God’s precious promises to us What hinders us from embracing God’s promises?
5
Interpreting Through Our Experiences
Disappointment with past experiences God is not a man that He should lie Numbers 23:19 Is it possible that we are interpreting it wrong? If we walk by what we see, violates principle of faith Cor 5:7 Can’t allow past experiences to taint promise of God Read promise, ask God if there is any experience keeping me from receiving this promise
6
Interpreting Through Our Feelings
Allowing how I feel to determine how I accept or reject one of His promises Relate to God through authenticity of His word If Bible says it, that settles it, I will walk it out by faith Thomas Faith vs. Genuine Faith Write down specific promises you discover Meditate on them, by faith, speak them over your lives
7
Interpreting Through Others
Interpretation of God’s promises shaped by voice/opinion of others Negativity of others drags you away from God’s promises Can’t rely on faith of others to carry you through Ask God where you have allowed your perspective to be shaped by others?
8
Interpreting Through Eyes of Faith
Where Peter was getting at in these verses Seeing your circumstances through eyes of faith Knowing that God’s promises are “Yes” and “Amen” His word works and will continue to work in the earth Walking in confidence in God’s promises Doesn’t look unrealistically at the circumstances

Conclusion My experiences… My feelings… Eyes of others…
… Or Eyes of Faith!
