Absence: When you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed, and make arrangements to complete the work you missed. If you return on the day of a test, quiz, or other exam, you will be expected to take the test, quiz, or exam as scheduled with the rest of the class. If your absence was excused, you still need to make up the work missed.
12
Late Assignments: Assignments are due on the due date
Late Assignments: Assignments are due on the due date. Late assignments will receive an automatic deduction of 10% per day. Remember after the 5th day that an assignment is late it will receive a ZERO. Extra time may be granted if a student can show a real need or hardship prior to the due date. Students with assignments that are late due to absence, will be granted extra time to be determined by the teacher (usually one school day for each day missed). Alternative Assignments: If a student misses an assignment that was part of an In-class activity or video, an alternate assignment may be assigned to make up for it.
13
Grades – Grades will be assigned using a weighted scale as follows: Homework/Daily Work = 50%
Tests/Projects = 50% Homework/Daily Work – This portion of your grade will consist of notes, vocabulary, map skills, videos, class activities and assignments. Homework will also be counted as daily work. All short assignments on Google Classroom will count in this area. Each week a participation grade of 100 points will be given for Google Classroom Warm-ups and general class participation/attitude/behavior. Unit Tests and Projects – Some assignments students complete will be classified as “projects”, and therefore count as a Test Grade. These projects require more than one class period to complete, and often require a presentation and computer research. They will be counted the same as a Test. Unit Tests will be given double the point value of a normal Vocabulary Test or Project. Your are expected to take all tests when they are scheduled. Makeup tests and Retakes may be allowed for unit tests in special circumstances.
14
Any physical assignments I give back to you need to be stored in your binder for possible future use. Finding them in the trashcan, left on your desk, or on the floor will result in a ZERO participation grade for the Week. Unfortunately connection lapses happen with the internet. Keeping these papers serves as a backup drive if your grades are lost in cyberspace. Please keep your Tests, Homework, and Notes in separate tabs within your binder, and in the order that they were assigned. Binder Checks will be conducted at random once per 6 weeks.
