12 The Advent Wreath Week 1 – Stay Awake Week 2 – Coming for Us Week 3 – The Good News Week 4 – As We Travel Circle – God has no beginning and no end; God’s love for us does not end. Evergreens – green is a symbol of hope. Even though it dies, it stays true to its color, just as Jesus died, but is with us now. Progressive lighting of candles – accumulation of light; expression of the growing anticipation of Christ’s birth. Purple – Prayer, penance, and preparatory sacrifices Rose – rejoicing; preparation is half over!
