1. Guiding Principles The Ohio Association of Charter School
Authorizers will assist and support sponsors
who subscribe to and strive to meet the
following principles:
1) Honor each school’s independence and operational autonomy.
2) Focus on academic, operational and fiscal quality.
3) Ensure that only qualified individuals and organizations earn the right to operate
a community school in Ohio.
4) Establish and effectively communicate clear performance standards and
articulate expectations throughout each phase of a school’s contract.
5) Collect and monitor data-driven evidence of its schools’ progress toward
meeting the performance standards specified in each contract.
6) Provide clear, concise and timely feedback to school governing authorities and
administrators as to the attainment of academic, organizational, regulatory
and fiscal performance standards specified in each school’s contract.
7) Intervene swiftly and rigorously in a school’s operations when it fails to meet
contracted performance standards.
8) Add value to Ohio’s public education system.
9) Support OACSA member’s non-renewal decisions and comply with any approved
OACSA appeal process.
