12. Conditional 2
I/he/she/they/we + would/wouldn’t do something + if + Past Simple I’d steal office stationery if my boss fired me. I wouldn’t steal office stationery! We can also use might or could instead of would if we are less sure. I might steal office stationery if I was angry with my boss.

13. If I were you, I wouldn’t drink-drive.
If I was in a hurry, I might speed.
With I, he, she we can say If I/he/she was or If I/he/she were.
Were is more formal and written and was is more spoken.

14. Pronunciation:
I’d STEAL office STATIONERY if my BOSS FIRED me. I WOULDN’T drink-drive even if the POLICE WERE NOT around. I’d SPEED if my FRIEND REALLY NEEDED help.

15. Practice Make hypothetical sentences using Conditional 2:
I (hand in) a wallet if I (find) it in the street.
If I ever (lose) my wallet I hope someone (hand) it in.
