3 Responsive Classroom Social curriculum is as important as academic curriculum HOW children learn is as important as WHAT they learn In order to be successfully academically and socially there are social skills children need to learn and practice (cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control) The greatest cognitive growth occurs through social interaction Knowing the families of the children we teach is as important as knowing the children we teach

“I am sorry because…” Invite them to have lunch with you. Write the person a kind note. Invite the person to play with you at recess. Make the person a picture with a nice note. Help the person with any work for that day.

11 For Your Information Homework Policy Birthdays
3 - 4 nights a week of math and/or language arts 15 minutes of reading each night Purpose is to be a review of what was learned If child has any questions or is struggling with homework, please have them try their best and I will work with them on it the following day. Birthdays As per district policy, edible birthday treats will no longer be permitted in school. Song Pencil and birthday sticker from teacher

12 For Your Information Parent Teacher Conferences: I will be scheduling conferences on October 16, 17, 18, 20. Preview of the year, some academics, goal setting. Party Money-$10: This money will help pay the cost of party supplies. *Class parties- limited # of parents allowed.

13 For Your Information Class Mascot Star of the Week Mr. Oinky
Will begin mid October Journal Star of the Week Gives each child a chance to “shine” Students will receive poster and Mr. Oinky on the Wednesday before their assigned week. Child will complete a Read All About Me poster and share with class Parent(s) will have a chance to write a letter to the class sharing something special about their child (favorite book, silly story). Teacher or student will share this letter on their assigned week. More information will be provided when it is your child’s week

PLEASE pack a healthy snack for your child each day! Absences/Dismissal Telsafe (609) ext. 5410 ANY requests for change in dismissal should be called in to the front office or note sent in with child.
