1 Happy Thanksgiving ----Julia

2 The Origin of Thanksgiving
The Pilgrims are an important part of the Thanksgiving tradition. After their first rough winter in 1620, the Pilgrims experienced a fantastic harvest in the fall of They held a three day feast with the local natives, without whom they couldn't have survived. They ate cooked pumpkins, corn, berries, and other foods they gathered from the area.

3 The Definition of the Word Pilgrim
The word “pilgrim” refers to someone who travels a great distance to a special or sacred place for religious reasons. But the people who came on Mayflower in 1620 and settled on what is modern-day Plymouth, Massachusetts didn't come just for religious reasons. Mainly, they came for economic ones—to build a better life for themselves and their families. So, that's why we also call these people English colonists.

4 When is Thanksgiving? American Thanksgiving is observed on the fourth Thursday of November yearly.

5 Thanksgiving Symbol The cornucopia, also called horn of plenty, means abundance. Originally it was a curved goat's horn filled with fruit and grain. It could also be filled with whatever the owner wished.
