A baseline to explore what is happening now

2 2 questionnaires sent out in July:
21 schools/educational establishments responded – 85% Primary, 15% Secondary 23 arts and cultural organisations and practitioners responded

3 Schools findings: (21 schools - 85% Primary & 15% Secondary) Q 1. How important is engagement with arts and culture in Sheffield to your school? Majority said Level % or Level % On a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 is low and 5 is high)

4 Q2. How would you rate your school's engagement with arts in Sheffield?
Responses: Level 2 – 25% Level 3 – 35% Level % On a scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 is low and 5 is high)

5 Q10: To what extent do you consider the following to be barriers to engaging with the arts and cultural providers in Sheffield?

6 Q9: When making decisions about which arts and cultural activities your school should engage with, how motivating are the following outcomes?

7 Schools’ comments: “Lots of the 'major players' in the arts sector in Sheffield don't currently make themselves very accessible to schools. ….They seem happy to take your business to buy tickets or book workshops but are not interested in building relationships or developing partnerships with schools which seems like such a waste of resources.”
