First steps first: As you take notes
Start by writing down the name of your source. Hey! WRITE YOUR SOURCES DOWN! E.g. Author, Title, Date, Magazine, Publisher, Encyclopedia, Date of Publication, Where it was Published, URL

Plagiarism: To take or use improperly or illegally the works or ideas of another You MUST document all sources to avoid plagiarism

Bibliography Formatting
MLA and APA format are most popular We use MLA Books, encyclopedias, websites, Magazines are examples of sources to be cited The most important things to note in a bibliography are: Author—if found, Title, Publisher, Date, URL/Web Address—if needed

Book Author’s last name, Author’s first name. Title of Book. Place of publication: publisher, date of publication. Example: Be aware that all punctuations are important! Schwartz, Linda. Article in an Encyclopedia/Magazine
Last Name, First Name. “Name of the article,” Name of Encyclopedia/Magazine. place of publication: publisher, date of publication. Example: Be aware that all punctuations are important! If there is no author, then start with the name of the article. Stimpson, Jennifer. “Install Wall Frames.” This Old House. New York: This Old House, Inc., Jan/Feb
