Travel & Safety Resources

The Office of Global Services has made a variety of online travel and cultural learning resources accessible to you directly through NYUHome.

World Trade Resource (WTR) is a tool which provides country-specific information and demographic data that will help you as you live and travel abroad.

With WTR you can quickly reference profile pages for your host country as well as other countries you may be planning to visit during your semester or full year away.

GoWorldwise is a cultural awareness training tool that provides country-specific information that can help you understand how to better communicate across cultures and transition more smoothly into life in your host city.

GoWorldwise enables you to create a Cultural Profile through a series of questions designed to find out where you may have cultural competency gaps mapped against your destination location.

Travel.State.Gov For additional resources, access to security alerts, and travel advisories that may impact participants in U.S.-based programs abroad, you may want to consider registering your trip with the U.S. Department of State or visiting their website on a regular basis.

GeoBlue International
Health Insurance Students enrolled at NYU’s global sites outside of the U.S. receive coverage for the duration of their program. Students have access to GeoBlue’s full international network of English-speaking primary care providers and specialists. GeoBlue also provides additional security and travel support in cases of emergency.

CSI Personal Property Insurance
NYU, NYU-affiliated residences and homestay hosts are not responsible for any lost, stolen or missing items. You may consider obtaining optional personal property insurance through CSI to protect your belongings against theft or damage while studying away.

NYU Traveler NYU Traveler is a web-based portal that is linked to NYU’s travel safety service. In case of emergencies, NYU Public Safety can alert you to resources and important updates. All members of the NYU community should utilize the site to either make their NYU travel arrangements or to register personal travel plans.

NYU ID Card Students are expected to provide NYU ID Cards to enter most academic center and housing facilities at the NYU global sites. Your card will also grant you access to a variety of cultural institutions and activities throughout your host country. Visiting students will be issued temporary NYU ID Cards for the duration of their program.
