Imitation Capitalising Noticing
Rogue’s power allows her to copy the powers of anyone that she comes into contact with. It’s not an easy skill to master. Whose power does she need to borrow? Will she be able to use it as effectively as them? Capitalising Natasha ‘The Black Widow’ needs to think on her feet. She needs to recognise when there is something around her that she can use. The Black Widow will not miss a chance to use something to her advantage - not always in the way that you’d expect either! Noticing Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, is a master archer. He has a keen eye and nothing goes unnoticed. By taking his watching situations very carefully he sees things others often miss.

Collaborating Planning Distilling
The Young Avengers have big boots to fill as they are still young and are learning to use their powers. Team work is vital for them. Each member must know what they have to contribute and recognise the strength and contributions of their team members. Planning Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, is a man with a plan! He may be surrounded by people who are more powerful than him, but when their backs are to the wall the other heroes will always turn to the ‘Cap’ who will have a clear plan of what to do. Distilling As head of the global peace keeping organisation SHIELD (before its collapse) Nick Fury had a lot of information coming to him every minute of every day. It was Fury’s job to know what was important and what was not.

Managing Distractions
Imagining Franklin Richards’ power allows him to make anything that he imagines come true. If he wants to do well as he grows up he will need to think hard about how to use his powers. He will needs to constantly consider ‘What if….?’ every time to avoid disaster. Managing Distractions Cyclops, whose real name is Scott Summers, is the leader of mutant group The X Men. It is his responsibility to make life better for Mutants everywhere. He takes this responsibility seriously and will not allow anything to distract him from his duty. Revising Tony Stark, a.k.a. ‘Iron Man’, has had loads and loads of suits over the years, but he is always keen to improve. Tony looks back at older versions of his suits to work out how to improve them: ‘What worked well?’ ‘How could I improve?’

Reasoning Meta-learning Perseverance
Despite his bestial appearance Dr. Hank McCoy is a gentle-mannered genius. Hank’s greatest ability comes from being able to keep a clear head as he weighs up the facts. He won’t rush in before he has had time to consider the implications of his actions. Meta-learning Every power that Stephen Strange has he has learnt -either by being a good student (and being taught it) or by teaching himself. Because Doc Strange knows how he learns he is able to learn new things quickly. He still has to work hard, but the ‘Sorcerer Supreme’ can enjoy the power that being a good student has brought him. Perseverance Dr. Bruce Banner has worked at finding a cure to stop himself becoming the Hulk for years. So far he hasn’t found anything that will work and he has had many set backs. However, he won’t give up and is always ready to dust himself off and try again.

Dr. Henry Pym, who as also been known as Ant Man, Goliath, Giant Man and Yellow Jacket was one of the founding members of the Avengers. Dr. Pym has been known to get lost in his research for days and weeks at a time. When he has a project he gets lost in it completely. As a result he has made amazing discovers such as the size altering Pym particles. Questioning Matt Murdoch a.k.a. the ‘Dare Devil’ is an incredibly skilled lawyer as well as the only blind super hero. Matt always knows the right questions to ask whether it’s in the courtroom or on the streets tracking down a bad guy. He’s a man who has no time to waste by asking pointless questions - he knows how to get to the point. Empathy and Listening Sue Storm (later Sue Richards) is a member of the Fantastic Four. When there is a team with such big characters as the Human torch, the Thing and Mr. Fantastic it is important that someone keeps the team together. Sue always makes time for her team members and tries to understand how they are feeling. Without Sue looking out for people’s feelings the Fantastic Four wouldn’t be the close knit team that they are.

Making Links Interdependence
Dr. Reed Richards is one of the most respected scientists in the World. Dr. Reed, a.k.a. ‘Mr. Fantastic’, works in many fields and his great successes have come from his ability to connect many different areas of science together to create something new. He really is a ‘big picture’ man and he can see how all the bits of the puzzle fit together. Interdependence Wolverine may be a little anti-social at times, but he has been a valuable member of groups such as the X men, X Force and the New Avengers. Wolverine recognises when it is important for him to team up with others and when it is necessary for him to go it alone.
