When India was a colony of Britain, the British thought that industrializing this country would be good for the people. So, they made the Indians start to build and modernize their country rather than having their previous, “underdeveloped” nation. GDP- $4.99 trillion GDP per capita- $2,000 (169 in world) Population Billion (2nd most populated country in the world) World only has 7.1 billion population 57% of India’s production is in services (plumber, waiter, etc) Exports- petroleum products, apparel, and vehicles Imports- precious stones, crude oil, and chemicals

Major religion in India- Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam
Government type- Federal Republic (United States is a federal Republic) Date of Independence- August 43% of children under the age of 5 are underweight Comparison of India to United States ---->

GDP per capita Population

Much of India is poor as indicated by the GDP per capita
Much of India is poor as indicated by the GDP per capita. So many of the poor families will have lots of children. Even though its is another mouth to feed, it also is another person to help out with the labor. And once the parents get old, there will be plenty of their children to take care of them. Also, it’s a cultural thing, many communities think of giving birth a gift from god. Therefore, they have many babies. The government also has a part in this. They have no way of regulating how many babies a single family can have. China, who was faced with the high population problem along with India restricted families to one kid and their population has started to level off.

India has estimated to have about 50% of the world’s 30 million slaves
India has estimated to have about 50% of the world’s 30 million slaves. All these poor people often have no where else to go other than to give themselves up for being a slave. They can get some money by illegally donating their organs. Most of the time however, women are taken into slavery and forced to have many kids, who later become slaves for the owner. People are treated as property in India and are sold without any rights.
7
Children in India are also sold into slavery or harsh child labor
Children in India are also sold into slavery or harsh child labor. Children are very small so they are always sent into the machines to fix them which, leads to many accidents. They are also just forced to work in sweatshops as they have small hands and finger which are desirable traits for some of the sweatshop jobs.
8
Kids are also sold to people for their services
Kids are also sold to people for their services. They will not be in a sweatshop, but they will be forced to do whatever their owner says. Every year it is estimated that 44,000 children are taken by gangs and forced to become beggars on the streets for the gang. The gangs cut off their limbs, pour acid on their faces, and other horrible stuff to make them collect more money when begging.
9
After the Indians declared independence, they still tried to advance their country to keep up with other countries. This later led to the development of a nuclear program. This rose speculations on how well the government of India was spending the money.
10
India spent 4. 1 billion dollars on it’s nuclear program in 2010 and 4
India spent 4.1 billion dollars on it’s nuclear program in 2010 and 4.9 billion dollars on it in With all those billions of dollars being spent on a nuclear program, it could be spent on helping the citizens get better health, living spaces, and just the infrastructure of India.
11
On the whole, globalization has been bad for India because the population has skyrocketed, many sweatshops are built, the GDP per capita is much lower than the average, and the government doesn’t make very wise decisions on whether it should be spent on the people, or other things that will help the people develop.
