What do you think this means?

Ban Zhou On the third day after the birth of a girl the ancients observed three customs: first to place the baby below the bed; second to give her a potsherd [a piece of broken pottery] with which to play; and third to announce her birth to her ancestors by an offering. Now to lay the baby below the bed plainly indicated that she is lowly and weak, and should regard it as her primary duty to humble herself before others.

To give her potsherds with which to play indubitably signified that she should practice labor and consider it her primary duty to be industrious. To announce her birth before her ancestors clearly meant that she ought to esteem as her primary duty the continuation of the observance of worship in the home.

These three ancient customs epitomize woman's ordinary way of life and the teachings of the traditional ceremonial rites and regulatons. Let a woman modestly yield to others; 1et her respect others; let her put others first, herself last. Should she do something good, let her not mention it; should she do something bad let her not deny it.

Let her bear disgrace; let her even endure when others speak or do evil to her. Always let her seem to tremble and to fear. When a woman follows such maxims as these then she may be said to humble herself before others.

As Yin and Yang are not of the same nature, so man and woman have different characteristics. The distintive quality of the Yang is rigidity; the function of the Yin is yielding. Man is honored for strength; a woman is beautiful on account of her gentleness.

Hence there arose the common saying: "A man though born like a wolf may, it is feared, become a weak monstrosity; a woman though born like a mouse may, it is feared, become a tiger."

Family and household production in peasant societies was the major economic unit, and so the production of any given peasant unit was dependent on what any given household or family can produce.

An example of Buddhism benefiting the lower class was their elimination of the Hindu caste system. Originally the caste system eliminated anyone from social improvement, but since this wasn’t an aspect of the Buddhist way it gave more lower class people the opportunity to reach nirvana where under the previous system only the wealthy could achieve it.

The religions/philosophies of the classical era were beneficial to the lower class because they were able to have equal opportunities. One example was the Confucianism philosophy that allowed people to exams that applied Confucianism in situations to the lower class to get jobs that they could have been qualified for instead of the higher class.

The religions/philosophies of the Classical Era were beneficial to the lower classes…The final example is Christianity. Christians all had the same opportunities to reach Heaven and believed God did not care about social and economic classes. So lower classes had the same chance that higher classes did to reach the afterlife, Heaven.

Two differences between Buddhism and Christianity are that in Buddhism there is no heaven and that there really was not god. Christians believe in a Heaven and a Hell; in both of which someone would still exist. This shows a distinct differences between the beliefs of what the afterlife is like.

A similarity between Buddhism and Christianity is the ultimate goal of the two religions is to reach an enlightened place beyond earth. For example, in the religion of Buddhism the ultimate goal is to reach Nirvana, and in Christianity the ultimate goal is to enter heaven. In order for individuals to enter these states, they must go about their life living it in the appropriate manner based on their religions requirements.
