How does this problem manifest?
Why does this problem exist?
How can we get rid of the problem?
How do we solve this problem?
THS the objectification of men.
The better you understand the motion and the debate the easier it is to realize what opening has missed. As you are closing you have enough time to talk about the debate as a whole and worry about the details later. Talk about a couple of potential arguments, even if you think Opening will make them so you have enough that you could say. Then talk about what’s the strongest material.

Why should we care about a certain group?

Talking about a new group of people is a good way to contribute something new to the debate. However, don’t forget to give a reason why the debate should be about this group. In the example you could talk about pupils, teachers, parents, …

7. Flip the Argument Opposition says X is bad, explain why X is good

Look for their strongest point
Explain why this point won’t happen but instead something good will happen

 Give reasons, talk about incentives
Even though their might not me an official way to hold vigilant groups accountable, however, personal incentives may differ to those of the police. They might care more about the community they live in than a police officer would, who just works there. The police might be very corrupt in countries with high crime rates, so somebody should have an eye on the police.

Say that they are really important
“Opening has proven that ___________ would be really bad. Therefore we should not do __________ if ____________ happens. Our extension will be an explanation how ___________happens”

Be clear that opening has explained why something is bad, that is OBVIOUSLY bad. So the more important thing is to explain how it happens. Be clear that this is what you are doing. Say that this was not clear after the top half of the debate so your team managed to answer a remaining question.

Impacting = give examples of what will happen
Opening “this will cause an economic crisis”
Closing “This will cause an economic crisis because banks won’t give out loans anymore because they think this is too risky. An economic crisis means people will lose jobs. Governments will implement austerity policies, that means less money for health care, education,…”
