Web media for social/commercial interaction, using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. Simply stated, it’s communication via the social media sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Skype and commerce media like itunes, amazon and ebay)

Editing -- to collect, prepare, and arrange (materials) for publication or hand-in.

Formatting -- The specific way that something is laid out

Invisible Web – Elements of the internet that are difficult to find. (I.E. You Google something that you know is on the web, but it does not come back in the search results)

Periodicals -- a magazine or other journal that is issued at regularly recurring intervals.

Online Journals -- a periodical or magazine, especially one published on the internet for a special group, learned society, or profession: the October issue of The English Journal (online edition).

Database -- a comprehensive collection of related data organized for convenient access, generally in a computer. (i.e. Ebscohost, Lexus Nexus, etc…)

Sources -- a book, statement, person, etc., supplying information.

Online Periodicals – Same as definition for periodicals, but one which are printed and published online.

Advanced Search – A mode of database and website searching that may be enabled as a way to find more specific or precise information.

Information -- knowledge communicated or received concerning a particular fact or circumstance.

Directory – an organized search engine organized into topics.

Trade Journal—a periodical devoted to a specific trade or vocation

Search Engine -- a computer program that searches documents, especially on the World Wide Web, for a specified word or words and provides a list of documents in which they are found. (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc…)

Print Resources – Resources such as periodicals and journals that are in print and can be handled – not those found online.

Consumer Documents – Professional documents such as lease agreements, car loan documents, contracts, terms of agreement, and applications.

Works Cited- a list that goes with a paper or project and lists the sources(works) cited(used in that project.

BIAS--- When information is presented favoring one side
BIAS--- When information is presented favoring one side. Prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

CREDIBLE—trustworthy, legitimate, able to be believed

Domain—the letters that come after the last “dot” in the web address, like: .com
They give you a clue about the kind of website you have Common domains: .com (for commercial or money making organizations). .net (originally intended for use by sites directly related to the Internet but is available to anyone). .org (non-profit organizations). .edu (used by educational organizations). .gov (reserved for agencies of the United States government). .mil (reserved for the United States military).
