Who found me? The Taurus constellation was first seen in on Earth in 1054 but it was first discovered in by John Bevis in 1731 and then again in 1758 by Charles Messier.

The story behind the stars...
It's said to be that the formation Taurus was actually Zeus in disguise. People believe that Europa, the wife of Zeus, once saw a bull grazing away from her father's heard. She approached the bull and it allowed her to climb upon its back. When she did, it sprang on to its feet and took off to the sea of Crete where Zeus made her his mistress. The Taurus constellation is one of the many animals hunted by Orion the Hunter.

The story behind the stars cont.
It represents the white bull that reflected the famous Minotaur with the wife of King Minos. This bull was sent to him by his wife as a sign that he was the rightful heir to the throne. However, Minos did not sacrifice the bull to Poseidon like he was supposed to, so the god caused his queen, Pasiphaë, to fall in love with the bull. She ends up having a half bull half man child with it. The Minotaur.

Where oh where can my little bull be?
Best seen in January around 9:00 pm. Right ascension is at four hours. The declination is fifteen degrees. Visible in between latitudes of 90 and - 65 degrees.

Hello my name is... Taurus. Taurus in English is the Bull.
The Plural is Tauri. And the abbreviation is Taru.
