In-class Activity Design -1
Learning Objective(s) of In-Class Activity At the end of the class, students will be able to, Find resistor colour codes & tolerance. To identify different types of Resistors and its wattage. (EVALUATE Level) Solve real-life problems involving Resistors (ANALYZE Level) Key Concept(s) to be covered Types of Resistors. Use of Resistors in Real life Problem Solving.

Active Learning activity(ies) that you plan to do Active Learning Strategy- Peer Instruction to clarify the concept of finding the resistor value and identify its types. 2. Think-Pair-Share activity for solving real life problem using special resistors. Explain the strategy by giving details of What Teacher will do? Teacher pose the questions and solves queries of the students. 2. What Student will do? Students think and discuss with peers and come to consensus. Listen to instructors explanation. Justify why the above is an active learning strategy Student are engaged in high order thinking( Analyze- Evaluate –Create). Students discuss within their group and share it.

In-class Activity Design -2
Peer Instruction Strategy – What Teacher Does Pose the two PI questions at the start of the class. Q 1: What are the colour codes of 12.6K ohms Resistor? i. Brown Red Blue Red ii. Brown Red Green Yellow iii. Black Red Blue Orange iv. Black Red Green Orange
14
In-class Activity Design -2
Peer Instruction Strategy – What Teacher Does Q 2: What will be 1K ohm Resistor power rating if 1mA current follows through it? i. 10 Watt ii. 1 Watt iii. 0.1 Watt iv. 100 Watt

TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Instructor gives a day – to – day problem to the students. Q. Suggest the names of special resistors that can be used to measure the change in light and ambient temperature of a room for the following conditions: 1. decrease in light of a room. 2. increase in temperature of a room.
16
In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Think (~2 minutes) Instruction: Light and Temperature are the two input variables. Think individually and identify which type of special resistors should be used for measuring the change in light and temperature.
17
In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Pair (~5 minutes) Instruction: Now pair up and compare your answers. Agree on one final answer. While students are pairing and discussing, instructor goes to the groups / pairs to see what they are doing. The variable used for measuring change in light is Light dependent resistor ( LDR ). The variable used for measuring change in temperature is Thermistor.
18
In-class Activity Design -2
TPS Strategy – What Instructor does Share (~4 minutes) Instructor asks a group to share their answer with class and see whether there are different answers. After sharing is done, instructor gives feedback on the correct solution.
19
In-class Activity Design -2
Justify why the above is an active learning strategy In both the above strategies, Students are required to go beyond mere listening and execution of prescribed steps. Students are required to think deeply about the content and they do higher order thinking.
