2 DAVID’S PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

3 “After king David had settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, he said to Nathan the prophet, ‘Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.” Samuel 7:1-2 NIV

4 “King David rose to his feet and said: ‘Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God, and I made plans to build it. But God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.” Chronicles 28:2-3 NIV

5 David Desired to Honor God
He wanted to build a Temple for God David had an immense appreciation for all that God had done for him! – 2 Samuel 7:1-2, He wanted to do something really special to show God his love and appreciation! – 1 Chronicles 28:1-2 But God prevented him from building the Temple because of all the blood he had shed – 1 Chronicles 28:3; 2 Samuel 7:4-5,

6 David Desired to Honor God
He was determined to make it happen He shared his plans with all the leaders of Israel– 1 Chronicles 28 He led the way in giving generously – 1 Chronicles 29:2-5 He called on the people to consecrate themselves to the Lord 1 Chronicles 29:5-8 All the people rejoiced at the willing response! – 1 Chronicles 29:9

7 “David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, ‘Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.” Chronicles 29: NIV

8 “Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all
“Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.” Chronicles 29: NIV

9 David Praised God in the assembly
He praised God for His infinite perfections For His greatness and power – 1 Chronicles 29:11 For His glory and majesty and splendor – 1 Chronicles 29:11

He praised God for His sovereign rule For His kingdom – 1 Chronicles 29:11 For His rule over all things! – 1 Chronicles 29:12

11 “Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name
“Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” Chronicles 29: NIV

12 “I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.” Chronicles 29:17 NIV

13 David Thanked God for Everything
He thanked God for being so generous to them! He acknowledged that all they possessed came from God – Chronicles 29:13-16; James 1:17 He thanked God that their giving was truly from the heart! – 1 Chronicles 29:17; 2 Corinthians 9:7

14 David Thanked God for Everything
He thanked God for the willingness of His people For their great generosity – 1 Chronicles 29:17b He prayed that God would keep this desire in their hearts forever, and keep their hearts loyal to Him –1 Chronicles 29:18-20
