Welcome Back Changes for the New Year!

What’s new in eLearning?
Advisory Student Learning Center Attendance and Virtual Learning Seminars Changes in Learning Center Times and Scheduling
3
Advisory All full time students will be assigned an advisor.
You will earn a partial elective credit per trimester (12 weeks). What is the purpose of Advisory? You will have a “Go-To Person” for questions and problem solving. Your advisor will be checking in with you weekly about progress in your courses and will be there to help you stay on track. Activities and Field Trips Must Do Activities such as Naviance tasks (graduation requirement), Signs of Suicide curriculum, etc.
4
Student Learning Center Attendance
5 hours per week or more = Students who attend are more successful with meeting their educational goals. Advisor will keep track of your weekly time. If you are on track- you do not need to necessarily make up all of your time. Please let your advisor know if you will be absent or out of town. Our attendance rules will be followed in regards to BECCA, etc. Medical absences must be accompanied by a doctor’s note. ** We are here to work with you and your student**

Teaching Seminars Our teachers will be offering at least 1-2 seminars a week. These will be face to face and will offer a variety of activities to engage our students. These can include: Art, Writing, Historical Simulations, PE challenges, Math Games, etc. Students will be able to choose seminars and will be offered credit and attendance for their participation. Students will be required to attend at least one seminar per trimester. Teachers will be asking for student input on seminars that they would be interested in attending.

Student Learning Center Times
We have now added Fridays! Our new times are as follows: Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm. Friday: 10am-3pm Quiet Lab will be offered Monday-Thursday from 1:30-3:30. Virtual Instruction: Our full time students will have access to their teachers through Google Hangouts. Students can make an appointment with their teacher to meet online to review a writing assignment, missed questions on a quiz, or complicated math problems. This will count towards your attendance time.

Change in Scheduling This year we are going to utilize the Trimester Schedule with our students. Why the change? 3 courses moved very quickly in 9 weeks. 6 courses were hard for students to keep track. We feel that 4 courses every 12 weeks will keep our students on track to graduate, is enough to keep track of, and also offers some flexibility. You will learn about further tips such as scheduling and your activities calendar later on today.
