Human Relationships Are Destroyed For example, consider the sin of adultery Though God hates divorce, He also recognizes the ruin the sin of adultery leaves behind Wounds are deep…people are confused It would be too much to demand they remain in a relationship that severely damaged

Spiritual Relationships Are Strained When a Christian allows sin to return, his/her brethren are put under stress & strain Things cannot now be what they once were Mt 18: Cor 5:5, 7, 9 cp. Amos 3:3 Disciples now cease to be “enjoyers” and must become “restorers” Gal 6:1

Spiritual Relationships Are Strained Disciples are left puzzled, bewildered over the behavior of their fallen brother/sister What has happened? Someone who vowed to follow Christ has now “lost their mind” and been captured by Satan 2 Tim 2:25-26

Divine Relationships Are Hindered This final point reminds us of the “true fallout” left behind by sin’s “storm” All sin is ultimately against God cp. Gen 39:9 It is God who defines sin Rom 7:7 It is sin that deceives, at last kills us Rom 7:8-11 How often do we stop and think, “How will this affect God if I do this?”

Divine Relationships Are Hindered How often do we stop and think, “How will this affect God if I do this?” Sin makes God sorrowful Gen 6:6-7 Sin grieves God Eph 4:30 Sin cuts us off from God Isa 59:2 He can have nothing to do with sin 1 Jn 1:5-6

Divine Relationships Are Hindered How often do we stop and think, “How will this affect God if I do this?” Sin cuts us off from God Isa 59:2 Our very Maker, Creator is precluded from any association with us cp. Num 5:2-3 Sin cannot and will not dwell where God is!! Rev 21:2-4, 7-8, 27

Conclusion An extremely important lesson…given our culture tries to “minimize” or “remove” sin Labels of “weaknesses” or “faults” are totally inadequate We must learn to see sin as God sees it

Conclusion Yes, sin is pleasurable…but notice it is only “passing” Heb 11:25 We must learn to see sin as a “storm” May we also learn to seek and take God’s refuge He offers from this destructive force
