The concept we are looking at today is sacrifice
Sacrifice – giving up something of value and doing selfless good deeds for others. Is the concept of sacrifice still important/common in todays society? Write this definition in your books Ask for definitions before providing one. 5 mins

What did Max Kolbe do? Max Kolbe is famous for offering to give his life to save a stranger. He died to save the life of a prisoner in Auschwitz concentration camp in 1941. He sacrificed himself for the sake of someone else.

Why have we learnt this today?
Ask for ideas. Can have a minute to jot down some ideas in back of book. Prompt them to understand the link between sacrifice and agape, understanding Christianity, allows us to identify the relevance of sacrifice in today’s society (could lead to discussion of relevance of sacrifice/evidence of sacrifice in modern society).
