Friendly reminder about paying for college:
If your situation changes and you can not start classes in the fall, you must officially drop your classes before January 19th (first day of the term) to avoid being charged tuition

It is important to know how you are doing in class If your instructor uses Canvas, check your grades often If you are unsure of how you are doing, talk with your instructor Check your MyCCP for academic early alerts, kudos and referrals Check your Starfish Connect Student Dashboard often

Communication tool used to provide feedback to students early in the term Feedback may be positive (Kudo) or may be an alert (Flag) that something needs to change for you to be successful in the course Faculty may recommend you use a campus resource (Learning Lab, Counseling) through Starfish Connect DO NOT IGNORE EARLY ALERTS –TALK TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR AND ASK FOR HELP How do I access Starfish Connect?

Ask for help when: You get an assignment or test back with a poor grade You are feeling overwhelmed You are struggling to keep up with your school work You are not sure if you should drop a class You receive an academic early alert through Starfish Connect ASK FOR HELP EARLY IT IS MUCH EASIER TO TURN THINGS AROUND WHEN IT IS STILL EARLY IN THE SEMESTER Where should you go for help? There are many resources and services available on campus

Attend classes when scheduled Arrive to class on time Complete all assignments when they are due Talk to your instructor; seek help if you are having academic trouble Seek help if you are having trouble that affects your academic performance Read the syllabus carefully (it is your “contract” with your instructor) Study/review two hours out of class for every one hour in class Know yourself; know WHEN you study best & HOW you study best Practice appropriate classroom etiquette: -silence cell phone during classes -limit excessive talking and walking (in & out) during class -no sleeping during class Use your planner (inside student handbook or on cell phone or tablet)
