Eru-PT may help companies investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste processing and afforestation/reforestation in Central and Eastern Europe improve the return on their projects.
Through Eru-PT, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of The Netherlands buys the reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions which these projects generate, thus creating an additional source of income to boost the feasibility of projects and accelerate their implementation. Emission reduction units produced by the projects are purchased by donor country.
Marketable Commodity : ERU Claims
One ERU has been defined as the reduction or sequestration of GHG emissions by 1,000 kilogrammes of CO2 or CO2- equivalent resulting from a project aimed at reducing man-made emissions during the commitment period ( ).
