VALUE: Sketchbook Study
Value: The gradation of tone from light to dark from white through grey to black.Value can be used to describe structure, weight, light, space and mood. Value:The relative lightness or darkness of something. Value does: 1) show form or give form to shape, 2d - 3d 2) depth and space 3) show or develop mood or expression 4) Create interest VALUE: Sketchbook Study Create a value scale with a smooth shift from the darkest dark to the lightest light Create a value scale using pattern. A tighter smaller pattern will give the illusion of a darker shade. Open up and space out the pattern to create lighter shades.

FORM: Sketchbook Study
Nothing but a 3-D projection of shape. This can also be geometric or organic. FORM: Sketchbook Study Draw and add value to these three shapes to create forms. Cylinder Sphere Cone

Positive Space is created by objects that are seen as a main element appearing to be in front of the background.Negative Space is the area that surrounds the shapes. The size and scale of the shapes or objects play an important role in creating the illusion of spatial depth. The size of one shape or object in relation to another can make elements appear to move forward or backward on the page

SPACE: Sketchbook study
Create SPACIAL DEPTH by overlapping 3 simple shapes. Label each layer. FOREGROUND {Should be the largest of 3 shapes} MIDDLE GROUND BACKGROUND {Should be the smallest of 3 shapes} Create POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE space -Take 3 pieces of construction paper {one blue and two green} -Draw an outline of one of the letters in your name on blue piece -Carefully cut the shape out. Keep both the shape paper its was cut from -Glue both cut pieces to either sheets of green. Positive and negative space!!!

Hue: just another name for color. Red Hue, Blue Hue etc…
Value: Lightness or darkness. Value can change by adding white or black to create different shades. This is the QUANTITY OF LIGHT. Intensity: The brightness of a color. This can also be described as the saturation of a color and the QUALITY OF LIGHT.

COLOR: Sketchbook study
At the top of you color page, give an example of 3 different HUES Choose RED, BLUE,or YELLOW and create a color value scale by adding white and black Create an intensity scale by combining two colors: {choose one combination} RED and GREEN BLUE and ORANGE YELLOW and PURPLE
