Stop and Jot Look at these two paintings, the first is from the Middle Ages, the second is from the Renaissance. What differences do you notice? Write down 2-3 difference between each of the paintings.

Characteristics of Renaissance Art:
Religious AND Non-Religious art Figures are lifelike and 3D (Perspective) Figures are shown in action Nude or clothed Faces showed emotions Evidence of light Full Backgrounds Symmetry Note that Religious art refers specifically to Christianity.

Gallery Walk Around the room are five paintings created by different Renaissance artists. In groups of 4-6 people, you will analyze each painting and figure out what characteristics each painting has. You will have three minutes to analyze each painting. I will be walking around the room, but only to listen to conservations. We will go over each painting after everyone has been to all five stations.
