Unit 3 vocabulary terms Associative Property – Multiply the parenthesis first, then the other factor, and you will still get the same product (2 x 5) x 3 = 2 x (5 x 3) Commutative Property – Multiply the factors in any order and you will get the same product Factors – the numbers you multiply in a multiplication equation Area Model – a multiplication or division model that represents the place value of each digit in a number Distributive Property – Multiply the digit outside of the parenthesis by each digit inside the parenthesis ex. 2 * (4 x 8) = (2 *4) x (2 * 8) Product – the answer to a multiplication equation

Unit 4 vocabulary terms Remainder – the left over amount after dividing
10
Divide with zeros & remainders
Think about how much easier this problem is to solve by knowing 3x7=21. Multiplication mastery is important to division problem-solving. Help your child achieve mastery by practicing every night.

The place value sections method will show why the tens place will have a zero. Using the digit-by-digit method can be confusing until this comprehension of numbers is mastered.
