3 Detroit to Chicago Facilitated EPA Task Force Meetings
Hired an EPA Task Force Consultant (Scott Sherman) Held committee meetings to review Detroit live polling results and discuss creation of work product in accordance with live polling preferences Created first internal and external work products Brainstormed external educational position paper topics Updated website with new committee charter

5 Internal Work Product E&O Committee took SPR’s “communication plan” and the “elevator speech” on the website and turned them into a presentation that can be used by company representatives, contributors and sponsors to briefly explain SPR to internal stakeholders and other interested parties. Once the presentation is approved by the Board, it will be uploaded to the website under the E&O tab. E&O Committee working to develop live polling items A-C.

6 External Work Product Clear live polling preference at Detroit meeting: 64.3% of respondents voted for: “position papers with examples to educate local, state or national officials/regulators.” E&O Committee has brainstormed external education work product topics and would like additional ideas from members.

9 Potential SPR – MIT Partnership
Opportunities Background: ExxonMobil sponsored a seminar at MIT in conjunction with the Department of Urban Studies and Planning called “Shrinking Cities” Objective was to find creative reuse for industrial sites in economically disadvantaged locations The seminar ran for 3 years and involved case studies and student research Consistent with SPR charter to explore educational opportunities, reestablish this connection and if successful pursue other university partnerships Proposal: SPR to maintain a list of interested Member or Association Sponsor “volunteers” who would be available for: Participating in panel discussions at the MIT campus or in Webinar/call-in format Assisting in the development of material for seminars Being interviewed for research projects Providing guidance to students interested in pursuing projects or papers If interested in being on list, contact: Mike Goldstein, Ingersoll Rand ( or

Would you be willing to volunteer your time to advise a student who is interested in pursuing research ideas or employment opportunities?
