Psalm 116:5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.

Psalm 116:3 The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.

Psalm 116:4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!"

Psalm 116:6 The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.

Psalm 116:8 For you have delivered my soul from death,

Psalms (86:15) – But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (103:8) – The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Psalms (111:4) – He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful. (145:8) – The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Exodus 34:4-6 – So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first. And he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand two tablets of stone. The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD…

Exodus 34:4-6 …The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,

Genesis 3:21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.

Isaiah 53:3-6 He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted…

Isaiah 53:3-6 …But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:10 Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him;

Ephesians 1:4-5 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

Revelation 13:8 – and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—

Jesus (Jn 6:44) – No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. (Jn 6:65) – And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father." (Jn 3:3) – Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Spurgeon I would cease to preach, if I believed that God, in the matter of salvation, required anything whatever of man which He Himself had not also engaged to furnish…”Salvation is of the Lord.” The Lord has to apply it, to make the unwilling willing, to make the ungodly godly, and bring the vile rebel to the feet of Jesus, or else salvation will never be accomplished…

Toplady Not the labors of my hands Can fulfil thy law's demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears for ever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and thou alone

Toplady Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to thy cross I cling; Naked, come to thee for dress, Helpless, look to thee for grace; Foul, I to the Fountain fly; Wash me, Saviour, or I die.
