PARCC PERFORMANCE LEVELS
PARCC reports results according to five performance levels that delineate the knowledge, skills, and practices students are able to demonstrate Level 5: Exceeding grade-level expectations (785 – 810) Level 4: Meeting grade-level expectations (750) Level 3: Approaching grade-level expectations (725) Level 2: Partially meeting grade-level expectations (700) Level 1: Not yet meeting grade-level expectations (below 700)

English Language Arts/Literacy
ELA Performance Level Descriptors ELA Outcomes/Results by Grade

Reading Claims Scored For the reading claim, performance levels at each grade level are differentiated by (3) factors: Literary Text Informational Text Vocabulary Literary: Students meet expectations by showing they can read and analyze grade appropriate fiction, drama and poetry. Information: Students meet expectations by showing they can read and analyze grade-appropriate non-fiction, including texts about history, science, art, and music. Vocabulary: Students meet expectations by showing they can use context to determine what words and phrases mean in grade-appropriate texts.

Writing Claim For the writing claim, PLDs are written for the two sub-claims: Written expression Knowledge of language and conventions Expression: Students meet expectations by showing they can compose well-developed, organized, and clear writing, using details from what they have read. Conventions: Students meet expectations by showing they can compose writing using the rules of standard English, including those for grammar, spelling, and usage.
