22
Begin to construct your Mock Exam direction through your first artist research.
This is your chance to be independent and you need to be to be successful in your mock exam. Your priorities are large scale pieces to be done after school and preparing for your exam.
23
Week 1: Artist Research 1 Due 16.10.17
You must do research on the artist in your own time. Lesson time is there for you to construct your pages and artwork in response to the artist. You must: Plan your pages with care, title, layout, background colour etc Include interesting information on the artist. Include your opinion and thoughts of the artist’s work. Produce an artist copy showing your understanding of technique and choice of media.

You must: Plan your pages with care, title, layout, background colour etc Include interesting information on the artist. Include your opinion and thoughts of the artist’s work. Produce an artist copy showing your understanding of technique and choice of media. Due

Week 3: Experimentation
It is important you pick a couple of areas to experiment with ideas. It should be relevant to your research or to an artist you have looked at, but printmaking or looking at a painting technique is a good direction to follow for this. Advanced Monoprint (introduce pen or pencil to the print) Dry Point Etching Linocut Compare painting mediums such as oils and acrylic Compare painting techniques such as realism and impasto. Ext: Do some research on this and present as an investigation Due

Try a printing method we have studied.
Take a close up section and compare oil painting to acrylic, to gouache to watercolour. Try a printing method we have studied. Francis Bacon by Derek Hollingdrake

Week 4: Artist Research 3 & Photographs
You must do research on the artist in your own time. Lesson time is there for you to construct your pages and artwork in response to the artist. You must: Plan your pages with care, title, layout, background colour etc Include interesting information on the artist. Include your opinion and thoughts of the artist’s work. Produce an artist copy showing your understanding of technique and choice of media. Due
35
Week 5: Development From Photographs
Present a double page, showing off the images you have taken. Show how they link to the artists you have researched, style, composition, emotion perhaps You must: Plan your pages; title, layout, background colour etc Annotate what could be used as a final piece, why that image? Try different media approaches and styles that link to your research, so for example, if you looked at Duarte Vitoria, how do your images link to emotion? If you did Abby Diamond, how will you introduce colour to your bird images? Due
37
Week 6: Planning and Practicing Final Pieces
At this point, with all research and photos complete, it is now up to you to produce large scale pieces from your prep work. To do this you must practice different ideas, annotate your thoughts and this all builds up evidence for your mark. You must: Plan your pages with care, title, layout, background colour etc Annotate not just what you are aiming towards as a final piece, but also how the artists you have looked at, have informed this. What media might you use? Why? Try different media approaches that link to your research. Use a viewfinder for what could be your final piece Due
38
These are close up sections of the final piece
What will you bring in to the skin colour to link to your artists? What about your background colour? Is it important? What techniques have you used such as the addition of the red impasto strokes seen here?
39
Are you ready for your final piece?
Have you and your teacher decided on a suitable outcome for your mock exam final piece? Remember that this is essential for a good grade in your coursework (Unit 1). Also know that you can add or improve your work after the exam up until you start your next project (Unit 2) Grid up or project your image ready for the exam, learn from previous experiences with drawing from hand. Ensure you have all materials and equipment ready for the exam.
40
Reflection Does your final piece link to the exam question/starting point you were given? How? What have you learnt from the exam day? How does your final piece link to your research? What would you have improved?
