11 Assess Transform Educate Assess Took an inventory of our current online learning program and established resource priorities. Prior to Fall 2014 Distance Education Coordinator role vacant for 5 years Funded a .6 Distance Education Coordinator 2013 Accreditation Visit Established a Distance Education Subcommittee reporting to Academic Senate Limited professional development and technical support for faculty using the Course Management System (CMS) (Blackboard) Engaged a consultant to assist with faculty professional development Provided 24/7 CMS(Blackboard) support for faculty

12 Assess Transform Educate Assess Reviewed existing online courses to determine instructional needs. “Design and delivery of online education in California’s community colleges is idiosyncratic, depending primarily on the initiative of individual faculty members operating within the constraints and resources of their departments and colleges” (Johnson, Cueller-Mejia, & Cook, 2015, p. 8). Questions 1. Are the courses designed to meet the needs of the online learner? 2. Do the courses align with online learning standards? 3. The focus is to promote student-centered, engaging, and accessible Education that meets student needs, and enhances the learning experience.
