A butterfly has four stages in it’s life. A butterfly can live from one week to nine months.

What a Butterfly Eats The Larva (caterpillars) of a butterfly eats only plants. Adult butterflies eat nector, water, and some liquids from fruit plants. If you want to attract butterflies to your backyard simply plant fruit trees, flowers, and have plenty of water. They really like to drink from mushy banana slices, oranges and watermelon.
