Clarification of Terms
Two yellow cards go into a bar…. Stop me if you have heard this…. Clarification of Terms Race refers to genetics, physical attributes and ancestry. Ethnicity refers to common cultural traits language, religion and dress. Culture is set of learned beliefs Multiracial is claiming ancestors from 2 or more races

Student Diversity Pink card people don’t speak so good.
320 million American Citizens 30 million speak a language other than English Demographic forecasting predicts that by 2030, 50% of school populations will be from non- European ethnic groups

Failing at Fairness With the exceptions of Asians, minorities consistently score lower on standardized test than do whites Minority graduation failure rates can be as high as 70% in large poorer communities Despite No Child Left Behind and Race to the Top, the large achievement gap between whites and minorities continues I am NOT my brother’s keeper.
